With the spring and summer month’s fast approaching, we have provided you with some tips on keeping your hair healthy in the sun. One of the most common misconceptions when spending lots of time in the sun is that your hair doesn’t need protecting. Your hair is made from Keratin, just like your skin. It is highly recommended to use appropriate skin protection when your skin is exposed to the sun for long periods of time, so why not provide the same sort of protection for your hair.
Drinking 2-3 litres of water every day is a great way of keeping your head of hair healthy and staying hydrated whilst in the sun.
Keep Your Hair Moisturised
Particularly for finer hair, incorporate a moisturising conditioner into your daily hair care routine to prevent your hair from becoming too dry.
Use a UV-shielding product between 11am and 3pm, when the sun is at the hottest. This will help protect coloured hair from fading and blonde hair which has less natural protection.
After taking a dip in swimming pools, make sure to wash your hair thoroughly using an anti-chlorine shampoo.
After Sun Products
Use a leave-in after sun product to help to counteract the effects of warm summer breezes which can cause hair to dry out.
